John Kamm to Speak on US-China Relations and Human Rights on February 10

On Thursday, February 10 at 6 PM Dui Hua Executive Director John Kamm will be giving a talk, US-China Relations: What Role for Human Rights?, at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. The talk will be preceded by a reception at 5:30 PM. Advance tickets are available here.

Over the last year relations between China and the US have been battered by a host of issues ranging from charges of currency manipulation to trade protectionism and rapid militarization, and last fall both nations elected new legislatures that have ratcheted up rhetoric about bilateral tensions. Meanwhile, Beijing has responded to the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo by significantly curtailing international human rights dialogues and taking a tougher line with dissidents. What’s the way forward for discussion of human rights in China?  Join us as Director Kamm shares his thoughts on this pressing question.

The Commonwealth Club of California is the nation's oldest and largest public affairs forum. It’s located in downtown San Francisco at 595 Market Street, near 2nd Street. Tickets for the talk are $20 for non-members and $8 for members.
